Opinions Are Changing

In the past there had been a seemingly unfair prejudice against cannabis use by the general public fuelled mainly by a concerted propaganda by the health ministries of governments, pharmaceutical companies and medical groups. However, in recent times opinions about the use and importance of legal marijuana use particularly to the medical field has been changing.

What is even more impressive is that the change in opinion is not just from the general public comprising of those using legal marijuana and those using cannabis for recreational use, but also from renowned medical practitioners. Some of these medical practitioners have spoken openly about the medicinal benefits of medical marijuana stocks. They have even encouraged their colleagues to make use of these medical marijuana stocks in the treatment of their patients.

With each doctor speaking out there seems to be another supporting. This wave of support for the legalisation of the medicinal use of cannabis is gaining ground with each passing day, leading to the belief that at some point in time the medical world would officially acknowledge the importance of legal marijuana to the treatment of minor and severe health conditions.

Recent News About Cannabis

To further buttress the fact that some conventional medical practitioners are now openly calling for the use of cannabis in the treatment of ailments. Dr. Shereef Elnahal the Health Commissioner of New Jersey recently spoke positively about the health benefits of legal marijuana at a medical event hosted by Rutgers University Medical School.

This cannabis news comes barely two months into the recently inaugurated expanded medical cannabis program in New Jersey. Addressing an audience comprising of fellow medical practitioners as well as students of medicine, Dr. Elnahal spoke glowingly about the untapped potential of cannabis in medical science.

While the medical marijuana program in New Jersey is steadily recording unprecedented growth and progress, the number of medical practitioners actually willing to make use of cannabis in the treatment of their patients or for use in their medical practice is not proportionate to the growth rate of the program.

One of the positive cannabis news that the Health Commissioner of New Jersey made mention of is the case of a late 7 year old boy named Jake Honig who recently died of brain cancer. He said that the use of the legal marijuana was in the medical treatment of the boy. It allowed the boy to have some comfort especially in the final months of his young life. It enabled him to communicate with his family in his final months alive.

What Is Cannabis And Benefits Of Using Cannabis

If you want to know what is cannabis, the first thing you should know is that cannabis or marijuana is a herb, a leafy green plant that can be found in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. For a millenia cannabis has played a major role in human society.

It had been used as both a recreational and medicinal herb long before medical science decided to officially ban it as an illicit drug. While cannabis has been available as a recreational herb for many years, legal marijuana has not been accepted by conventional medical science as a potential drug for the treatment of a myriad of health conditions.

However, in recent years the popularity of legal marijuana in medical science has grown exponentially. There are two main chemical components in cannabis that has intrigued medical researchers and made a number of conventional medical practitioners openly laud it's benefits to medical science.

These two active compounds are cannabidiol (CBD) which researchers have claimed can impact positively to the human brain and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is believed to have analgesic properties and helps users to gain relief from chronic pain. While CBD doesn't give users a high, THC is known to be the reason behind the high users of recreational cannabis experience.

Research into the medical benefits of legal marijuana has astounded researchers over the years. While there are a large number of ongoing research and clinical trials to verify the validity of several medical claims, here are three medical benefits of cannabis to users that even medical science cannot ignore.

1. Legal marijuana offers relief from the chronic pain felt by sufferers of multiple sclerosis

The Canadian Medical Association Journal published a study on how cannabis could help alleviate the chronic pain symptoms felt by sufferers of multiple sclerosis. In the report Jody Corey-Bloom had placed 30 multiple sclerosis patients with chronic muscle contraction pains on a cannabis smoking treatment which resulted in a unanimous outcome of pain reduction in all patients.

These patients had not responded to other conventional treatment. It was claimed that THC in cannabis will merge with the receptors in both the muscles and nerves which will help relieve pain.

2. Cannabis can offer relief from the discomfort caused by arthritis

Legal marijuana will reduce any inflammation and pain felt by sufferers of arthritis. It will also induce sleep which researchers believe could be key in relieving suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and other related conditions.

In a research carried out, some sufferers of arthritis were given a pain relieving medication with a cannabinoid compound (CBD) known as Sativex while others were given a placebo. It was discovered after a period of 14 days of treatment that the patients given Sativex had a better quality of sleep than the patients on the placebo and they also experienced a reduction in their chronic pain.

3. Parkinson's disease sufferers gain relief from frequent tremors with legal marijuana

An Israeli research has proven that cannabis smoking can reduce the tremors as well as pain felt by sufferers of Parkinson's disease. The research also claims that the sleep quality of sufferers of Parkinson's disease improves significantly with the smoking of cannabis.

There were also vast improvements in the motor skills of patients of Parkinson's disease treated with cannabis. It must be mentioned that cannabis is legal in Israel for medicinal purpose particularly for the treatment of a large number of medical conditions.

Methods Of Consuming Cannabis

Legal marijuna can be consumed in a number of ways, two common ways of consuming cannabis include the following;

1. Smoking - Cannabis has been smoked for centuries and it is probably the simplest way of consuming this herb. All you need to do is to roll up some dried cannabis, light it and smoke as you would a regular cigarette.

2. By Vaporizing Cannabis Oil - Vaping is now a trend that seems to be gathering steam. It is seen as a much healthier way of consuming the compound CBD and THC in cannabis as cannabis oil is heated to a point of vaporization rather than the dried herb being burnt as in the case of smoking. This is also a highly medicinal way of consuming cannabis and involves the use of a CBD vaporizer pen.

Other ways of consuming cannabis include drinking, eating (Cannabis-Infused edibles) and dabbing cannabis concentrates which entails the use of a conduction type vaporizer pen.
